DO YOU NEED TO BE NOTICED?

Dear Friend,
Do you need to be noticed? Of course you do, everyone wants their name or logo recognised.
But why would you want to advertise like Coca – Cola or BMW when you haven’t got the millions of dollars to spend.
Look through the Yellow Pages and see what you get name after name after name. When customers go through the Yellow Pages they are ready to spend money. People don’t read it for a bed time story, (it has no plot and too many characters).
If you’re a plumber for example, people don’t care what your name is they just want you to fix their toilet. (Sorry to be so truthful)
Why not become a trendsetter and change your ad to standout from the rest of the names.
Take a plumber for example
- List the unique things you do –
- We replace all your washers for FREE (easy and it is cheap and customers think WOW this is good I get an extra service for FREE)
- Imagine a lady living by herself her toilet is blocked and she has her head in the Yellow Pages looking for a plumber, spots your ad a sees *All washers replaced for FREE. She thinks sensational my tap in the laundry is dripping as well. Were has this plumber been all my life.
- Tell People Why your better –
- compare yourself with your competitors. – You know how other plumbers turn up dirty and smelling like the sewer from the last job. Well all our staff members are uniformed don’t smell and will clean up when they are finished. (Once again easy, smart uniform, a bit of deodorant between jobs, and if you’re tradesmen you should clean up anyway)
- Give stuff away – A free quote is not giving stuff away everyone does it
- How much would it cost to replace every tap washer in the house & a good job for the apprentice.
- What about a free appraisal on how to save water in the house. It is not hard to get 2 A4 pages on water saving tips. Get your kids to have a search on the net and come up with some for you. It costs you nothing and customers think it is great.

Give away a FREE report -
- Imagine giving away a report titled “How plumbers try to rip you off” It is not heard of, what is this plumber on about people will be saying. It also adds credibility.
- We all have those clients that after every job say hey that is a great job you’re the best plumber around. Ask them to put it in writing, if the say I wouldn’t know what to write. Suggest that you write it and get them to check off on it and sign it. And use full names, initials just scream FAKE.
Here are examples of 3 ads direct from my local yellow pages. They all tell me exactly the same thing.
Let’s go through them.
§ Come on down ad number 1 you list you’re a plumber/drainer/gasfitter and LP gas fitting – that is good cause so does the next ad underneath and so do a 1000 other ads around you.
§ Thermastitic Mixing Valve Testing – sounds fancy – what the hell is – I bet 9/10 people don’t even know what it is. But hey ad number 2 does it as well.
§ Backflow prevention testing and installation – I must be a dumb, same again what is it.
Ad number 2 it is your turn to shine.
§ Once again the ad above you does all that stuff and so do the 8 pages of ads before and the 5 pages of ads after you.
§ LP Natural gas is that what you use or supply or come over and cook my dinner with it?
§ CCTV Inspections – Does he use CCTV to inspect you pipes or does he inspect YOUR CCTV? Mmmmmmmm
Ad number 3 ……..ATTENTION!
§ You must be the number 1 plumber around cause that is what the big badge says in the corner
§ Servicing for 18 years….Whoopty doo. I don’t care I just want my toilet fixed.
§ Pensioner Discount. No offence to our older generations, I am 24 I struggle to turn the tap on let alone fix it, what do I get? Nothing, Zilch, Nada, Zero.
§ BEST RATES – who said? Do I have to take your word for it.
OK I think I have blasted these ads enough, lets be trendsetters

think this ad would stand out? Ok my ad is the same width and a little bit longer but if it makes money who cares. No other plumber offers this type of stuff. It is so simple to offer this. Remember this ad has to last for a year.
